possible?
i have an mBox and pro tools LE.
if i want to take my laptop to work on music, but not take the mBox (for example, monitoring on headphones)...can i do this?
AND...can i use an ozone (m-audio keyboard/audio interface) with LE??
in other words, will le work with hardware that isn't from digidesign?
thanx..!

NO! Read your manual. It has the answers.

I don't believe the mbox has a built in midi, however I think almost any coremidi device will work for midi input, but again no on using the audio part. Think of the mbox (or any of digi's interfaces) as a large dongle, software won't run without it. Ain't no way no how.

That's exactly what it is, the biggest dong;e in the world. Try fitting it on your key-ring!
One alternative, which you won't like, is to boot up in OS 9 (if you can) and run ProTools FREE. You're limited to 8 tracks, but it could still be useful in some circumstances . . .

os9 is long gone from my powerbook.
was hoping to use pt le on the road, sometimes with an ozone. sometimes just with headphones (to work on mixes). no such luck!
have to take my mbox
it's a shame digidesign does this...or that there is no pt free in osx.

Did your ozone come with any recording software? m-audio usually includes some type of software bundle.
i stay away from pro tools outside the pro studio because of all the hardware issues. cubase, logic, and even sonar are great home studio alternatives to pro tools. the programs are combatible with most digital/audio interfaces.
if you have garageband, you could at least use that program with your ozone on the road.

thanx for all the ideas...
use pro tools in the studio, want compatibility with my powerbook.
was hoping to work sometimes with just the pb, and headphones.
no such luck.
gotta carry the mbox (no big deal, but...the ozone has midi AND audio thru usb, freeing up a usb port)
so it goes.
back to work!
