I have tried repeatedly to place titles in movie clips of projects I'm working on. I can follow the directions and create the titles, and even Preview the result in the movie, but I'm unable to get the titles to stay in the movies...What am I doing wrong? The 'Update' button stays grayed out and when I drag the title to a clip, it won't stay.

iMovie 4.0.1/OS10.3.4/G4 Digital Audio.

I take it that you have not succeeded in EVER putting a title in a movie?

Once you have typed the title, you grab the little icon to the left of the title type that you have selected, then drag it down to the start of the clip you want to add the title to. If you are adding a title somewhere other than the start of a clip, split the clip first. For instance, if you want to put in a title immediately after a transition, go to the end of the transition, use the right arrow key to go one more frame, then split the clip there. Then drag the icon onto the new created clip.

Hope that helps. If not, post back, and we'll try some more.

Oops, one more thing. The "update" button is used once you have added a title, but want to change the color of the text, the length of time of the title, the title type, etc. You go to the clip with the title added, select that clip, and then change the characteristics you want. Once you have the changes, hit the 'update' button, and iMovie will re=render the clip.
