Is anyone experiencing difficulties with their codecs (specifically mpeg2) after installing Motion? Part of the Motion installer included an update to the Compressor framework, which, since installing gives me the message "Cannot connect to background process". When I try to submit a batch render. Furthermore, when I try to author DVD's in DVD Studio Pro 2, the encoding that's built into DVDSP is hosed, the app either bombs out or spits out a jarbled mess. I even tried encoding with Cleaner6, but that app bombs when I try to render the MPEG2 video. It would appear that the MPEG2 codecs, at a system level, are FUBAR. I missed a deadline yesterday, and really should have thought twice before installing Motion on a production machine (gave in to the temptation of Motion)!!

I've tried removing the compressor frameworks and other files and then running the updater again, as instructed on this page: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93234 ...but that has yet to fix the problem...

My setup:
Rev A PowerMac Dual 2GHz G5 w/ 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9600, etc...
OS X 10.3.5
FCP HD 4.5
Compressor 1.2.1
DVD Studio Pro 2.0.5
Motion 1 (PATOOEY!)
...everything should be up-to-date....

Just curious if anyone else is experiencing these difficulties?

maybe try uninstalling and then re-installing DVDSP2???? and/or FCP 4 to try and restore compressor to it's former glory.

edit: this is pure guesswork on my part though
