Was just trying to troubleshoot the reason for a blank screen projection from a data projector off a powerbook running on OS10.3.5. For some reason, the projector doesn't seems to be picking up any signal fr the powerbook. Cable seems to be the most obvious reason here but I did try it again with another projector, same cable, same powerbook n it works. Then I did a second test with the same cable, the first projector and a PC laptop and it works too. So, what else could possibly be the problem? Any clues or suggestions?

what kind of projector is it? what kind of cable connection? (and why can't you use the second projector, the one that works?)

They'r both panasonic projectors and by cable I meant VGA cable. I can't use the 2nd projector due to some security issue. Long story to explain. Just take it that I can't use it. So any clue?

This may sound like a stupid question, but sometimes we forget the obvious. Are you sure you have the right input selected on the projector?

I'm very sure I've got the right input. Cos' like I've mentioned, I tested out the first projector with the same cable on a pc laptop and everything works fine. I didn't touch the input button on the first projector at all when I did that. So there shouldn't be a mistake on that. Thanks for suggesting misc. Any other possible err/mistake that u can think of?

If you're sure it works with another machine, you probably just need to ensure that your resolution and refresh rate is compatible with your projector. Many projectors will auto adjust (thus the other one working), but this one may not. To test this you might try setting the resolution to 640x480 at 60Hz as that's sort of a baseline that practically any projector should read.

You can also look in the control panel for a button that says "detect display". Click this after you've gotten the projector hooked up. My powerbook doesn't output to our projector until I do this.

thanks grovberg. That's a good tip. Cos' there's no way for me to hv physical access to the 1st data projector. It's lock up in a safe with security alarm. So switching the resolution thing will kinda prove the pt. of resolution setting on the data projector. Will try that. THanks.
