I need some help, please! I want to get an EyeTV, but I'm not sure which model I *really* need. Here's what I want to do...

1) I want to be able to record basic cable programs (not digital or HD).
2) I'd like to be able to export the recordings to DVD, with decent quality, so I can watch them somewhere else.

They have like 8 models or something, and I quickly got confused with all the potential features vs. my basic needs. Any info would be mush appreciated!

TIA,
Maury

You will sacrifice image quality, but will save a few bucks if you get the old USB Eye-TV. The main benefit I see in it for you is that it saves everything as mpeg-1 files which can be burned to dvd with no conversion. The files are about 650 mb/hour which is good by me.
Are you using a desktop or laptop btw? How important is image quality? How important is resalability? Price?

Also, you can buy the old one at an apple store with a free keyspan remote in the box, also the newer eye-tv's (2/3/400) all come with their own remotes if I'm not mistaken. If you find a USB one without a remote and you want one search for the ATI Remote Wonder, the mac drivers work well and at about $30 its not a bd deal.

Hope that helps.
