Hi,
I am looking to record short voice notes of mine.
I have been using the "Sound Studio" app. that came with my iBook. I noticed that every 5 min is up to 30 MB size. A regular song of same 5 min is 2MB. I have been saving it in mono otherwise would be even larger.
Would you know which other method I should use to make such voice clips?
Thank you for your help.
You can either continue what your doing and convert it to whatever format your "regular" song file is. This is known as compression. You can do it to your existing recordings through iTunes.
Another way would be to use an application that can record directly to a compressed format like mp3 or aac.
Here is an example, I'm sure there are others you can find on versiontracker or macupdate.
Other things you could try if Sound Studio supports it is to record at a lower resolution/sample rate. 16bit/44.1kHz CD quality audio is roughly 6 MB per channel per minute. Halve that to 8bit/22.1kHz and file size will go down.
