Need to find out why I am having so many problems with a client's video files.

The required result is a few small vid files in Flash.

After a few attempts at dealing with their files they came up with an .avi file. Client is PC based but they do have Quicktime Pro installed. They even downloaded the trial version of Flash...and imported and exported the file no problem!

However I seem to have to jump through multiple hoops to get things to work! (on tyhe Mac). The avi file (which is here: http://www.theviewingroom.co.uk/sclub.html ) plays in quicktime...but without the sound! I managed to convert with "ffmpegX" and got a sound AND vision .mov file. Great I thought. Imported into Flash no probs. Export as .swf..... no bloody sound!

This is the simple story. I have tried demuxing, extracting tracks, adding scaled...all sorts.
It's either me being a twit, a flakey Mac/PC thing or possibly the client just needs to tick an extra box somewhere.

I'ts just getting a tad embarrasing just saying that the files are 'a problem'......especially now they are half way to building their site without me.

Any ideas from you vid jockeys?http://www.theviewingroom.co.uk/sclub.html

You can get Quicktime to play the sound by running the avi through DivX Doctor 2. I don't know if that will fix the Flash issue, but you can try.

Thanks Jacke.

Tried that. Didn't work either!
The sound IS there...just needs a little coaxing out.

Trying to find out how they are exporting these files.
