I used to be the one other people asked questions to, but I guess I'm getting old and new technology seems to be passing me by at a faster pace than I can digest.
I got to record a program from TV with iRecord (great little app!) and I have a single .ts file on the desktop (does that contain both audio and video streams?) Now I would like to make a DVD with it, but I'm a little confused... ffmpeg? VLC? DiVa? How do I process the file to burn a DVD?

The .ts files are MPEG transport streams, containing both the video and audio in a streamable container. First, you'll need something to demux the stream into MPEG2 and AC3 files. The command line version of ffmpeg works well. Then you'll need software that will take the audio and video and combine it into the DVD format. I'm not sure what the best software for that is (assuming you want to keep things free)....
