I've asked this here before, but let's see if things have changed.

What I want to do is burn VCD quality files to a DVD so that I can fit like 10 hours onto a single DVD. Most DVD authoring programs either refuse to acknowledge the VCD mpg files, or want to recompress them to DVD quality files.

Anybody got any bright ideas?

I can't really help you since I'm sort of stuck myself trying to get Toast to recognize MPEG-2 video without re-encoding, but I know that the DVD format requires the audio to be 48kHz. Most MPEG-1 files have 44.1kHz audio.

You'll probably have the best luck demuxing them to mpv video and whatever you want audio. mp2 audio (48khz I think) is valid for DVDs, but ac3 is by far more likely to work in any one player, and to be accepted by any one piece of sofware.
