I just upgraded to a new 17" iMac w/superdrive. I went ahead and purchased Final Cut Express with the 'puter (100 bucks! Way cool!)
Now, can anyone recommend a good way to make the transition from iMovie to FCE? Any books that come recommended? How did the rest of you learn? Trial and error seems like a pretty steep learning curve!
I hear that Tom Wolsky's books are a good start.
The author himself is usually found at the Apple FCE discussion board, where there's surprisingly good info to be found (he even helped me solve a problem I had with FCE once).

I never used FCE, But I do use Final Cut Pro on a daily basis, I came from Media 100 and just did the FCP tutorials and pretty much got up to speed. I would say that would be a good start if you are familiar with the basic concepts.
