Could someone take a look at this .avi file for me.

http://www.theviewingroom.co.uk/morethan.avi

9.6 MB.

There IS a sound track ....but Quicktime is not playing it.

My client is going to send another 50 or so clips for me to import into Flash.
Is there something they could do to make the process easier ....and get the sound back?

Thanks.

PS. I can get the thing working by first running the file through FFmpegX, but I would like to avoid having to do it for all the files!

(Ugh. Cinepak video.)

Run the file(s) through DivX Doctor and it should be fine. The app has a queue function, so just drop them all in the box and let it do it's thing.
DivX Doctor extracts the audio to a separate Quicktime file with references to the original AVI, enabling Quicktime to play MP3 audio in AVI files.
