Bought new Canon camera over the weekend. It says it uses Compact Flash Type I. I found a good deal on CF card, but it did not say "Type I". Is it the same? Should it work?

Thanks in advance!
Mary

the number I, II, III has to do with physicall size (e.g. III are that Gb-micro drives, much thicker)

Thanks for the info! I guess I think, then, that since the package I purchased does not indicate I, II or III that it is probably I. I looked closely at the card that came with the camera and the new card (still in the packaging awaiting the final outcome of my research - for possible return to the store)and they seem to be the same size/thickness. Guess I'll try it and risk not being able to return it.

Thanks again!
Mary

Well, after all that, I have discovered that the card I bought is only 4X, so is probably pretty slow. Now wonder it was so cheap (Lexar brand) at Sam's Club. So, guess it goes back anyway!

What kind of camera did you get? Most point and shoot digitals won't need a fast flash card.

It is a Canon S500 -- yes, point and shoot. So you think I don't need to worry about the speed of the card? I read where a faster card would make a difference in the amount of time it took for the image to be stored on the card, allowing for quicker shooting of subsequent pics.
