I just purchased a 23" Apple Cinema HD. How do I go about watching HD content? I went to the Windows Media WMV-HD clips site and I'm quite sure that WMP-9 for the Mac doesn't use the codec. The video was playing back very slowly on a dual processor 2GHZ. Also any good sites that anyone can refer for HD content? Is the H.264 in QT 6.5? And is this codec the only way to watch HD content with quicktime?

HD is not a codec. It's just the same as SD with the same codecs, just with higher resolution. A 1920x1080 movie is HD whether it's MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264 or WMV9.

I went to the Windows Media WMV-HD clips site and I'm quite sure that WMP-9 for the Mac doesn't use the codec. The video was playing back very slowly on a dual processor 2GHZ.

If the codec for the movie was unavailable, it wouldn't play back at all. If it plays at all, you've got the codec. The fact that it plays slowly just reflects the fact that macWMP sucks ballz.

Also any good sites that anyone can refer for HD content?

The compression technologies available today don't make HDTV content reasonable to host online without throwing a lot of money at it. There are probably a few sites, but there won't be many and I don't know what they are.

Is the H.264 in QT 6.5?

No.

The easiest way to get HDTV content to watch is to subscribe to HDTV service from your cable company, and ask them for a receiver with a firewire connection (which they are obligated by law to provide as part of the service, for your DVHS needs). Then go to http://macpvr.home.comcast.net/ and get the modified (from Apple sample code) AVCBrowser to let your mac download the content from your cable box.

Does anyone have a link to a site that has DVCPROHD QT clips similar to dvcuts.com? I'm only able to get a couple frames off dvcuts.com for sampling. I would really like at least a DVCPRO HD QT clip of a minute duration or more so that I can show my partners the capablities of the HD codecs in Quicktime. Until H.264 comes out guess I'm stuck with DVCPROHD for playback.

As Uncle said, the WMP9 player for Mac exerts low atmospheric pressure on round testicular objects.

CinemaNow offers HD content for subscribers, but you'll need a PC to see it.
