The specs don't show much but as far as I can tell it only has a USB interface. Without a firewire connection it won't do you much good with FCP
Quicksilver 867, 700mhz iBook, 1st Gen iPod, iSight, Newton 2100, and a 128k Mac. All operating and used on a constant Basis

GR-X5.

Are they referring to 2 different cameras.
"In addition JVC presents a Data processing Camcorder. The GR-X5 ensures according to manufacturer with the same 3-CCD-System as with the Everio "

What does that mean data processing.

Which one do I want the mc 500 or the gr-x5 what is the difference. I did a babble fish.

JVC presents 3-CCD-Camcorder of f?Video amateurs
The smallest 3-CCD-Camcorder of the world: JVC Everio MC 500
With new models JVC enters in the Consumer range of the 3-Chip-Camcordermarkts. The Ger? are based on a new light divisor, a prism, into which dichroitische (halbdurchl?ige) filters are integrated. The this?rnehmen color separation, which the otherwise necessary color filters on the CCD chips er?igen is.
The flagship of the Everio row -- which Everio GZ-MC 500 -- functions as MPEG-2-Camcorder and as digital photo camera. The Ger?enth? a transducer with three CCDs in the 1/4,5-Zoll-Format, which supplies altogether a Aufl?ng of 1,33 megapixels. By 1/2-pixel-SHIFT-MUDDLED photos with a Gesamtaufl?ng of 5 megapixels (2560 1920 × pixels) develop. With the Geh?e the camera is rotable gegen?r the drive assembly module.
In addition JVC presents a Data processing Camcorder. The GR-X5 ensures according to manufacturer with the same 3-CCD-System as with the Everio f?eine Bildaufl?ng of 540 TV lines; the bright optics (F1,8) enth? a 10-10-fach zoom shot (photo mode: eightfold). The video data can be?rtragen by USB-2.0, which permits the video's treatment at the PC also without FireWire connection.
The new Camcorder will have to be seen according to data of JVC on the CeBIT; the Everio GZ-MC 500 is in the M? f?1499, euro into the trade come. At the same price JVC wants to deliver the Data processing Camcorder GR-X 5E in April (uh/c't)

That is one hot camcorder.

Not exactly going to be making indie features with it, and that price is STEEP... but still. Sexy.

it is 3ccd right?

http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?model...324&pathId=119 this is the older version.
4GB MicrodriveŽ SD-Video MPEG-2 PS recording format
1/3.6 inch 2.12 Megapixel CCD imager
130,000-pixel 1.8" polycrystalline silicon color LCD monitor
Digital Image Stabilizer (using "gyro-sensor")
Shutter Speeds (Video: 1/2 to 1/4000th sec.; Still: 1/2 to 1/500th sec.)
Video Thumbnail display to find and view stored videos and stills

Is that good for a camera. As long as its better than what I have now that is all I care about. I have a old sony that is not 3ccd.

And which one do I get the grx5 or the gzmc500
