So, I've been using iDVD for about a year now. I have noticed that when I use Verbatim or Maxell DVD-R media, it MAY work on my DVD player, but typically will NOT work consistently on my DVD player. (It is always readable on my Mac, just not on my DVD player.)

However, when I use Sony DVD-R media, it nearly ALWAYS works on my DVD player.

So, my question is, does anyone else notice a diffence when playing back media from various vendors?

I attempted to use some generic media from the 'net once. It would work ONLY on my Mac, and hardly ever on my DVD player. What a waste of money THAT turned out to be!

In a word, yes. I haven't personally had any problems with Maxell or Verbatim, but I have had problems with some generic media. Ritek media is typically good. You should also buy the fastest media that your drive can burn at (e.g., 2x, 4x) and burn at that speed.
