My son would like to capture a Halo 2 game (playing on a X-Box) on an iMac G5. I have no experience of video capture. My guess is that they don't have to be really high resolution as he wants to put them on his web page as Quicktime movies.

Any ideas on how to do this and how to do it cheaply!

Thanks - Michael

If you have a DV camera you could split the video signal and record onto that.

Run a cable (either S-video or RCA) from the output on your TV to the analogue inputs on you Digital Video Camera (assuming you have one. If not, you really need one), and then hook up the DV camera to you computer (firewire). Most Sony and Canon camera's have a pass-through effect, so you can capture the video directly into iMovie without needing to record onto a tape.

Hopefully that'll do it. Anything else?
