I started looking for a good and CHEAP usb audio interface. I REALLY want it to include a simple midi I/O too. I'm using this to get pro results after using my Roland 880EX digital workstation. I then am thinking aobut using garage band to do some "mastering" work.

any thoughts on what to buy?

BTW I'm using a PB 133 and now I'm using the audio in jack!
thanks in advance

I use a M-Audio Ozone keyboard/sound interface. I really like it.

As far as using GarageBand for mastering work, it sure beats using a wax cylinder.

heh, well its never an easy road for me on my stuff. I was using Peak 3.0 to master until it just simply quits working all the time now. SO I got a copy of Peak 4 and its crashing all the time. So I was going to buy 4 or even peaklight but I'm poor and can really afford to waste the money on something that MAY or may not work right anymore.

So I'm using Garage band to import my "finished" work from by VS880EX through the mini input jack. From there I can trim and fade out and combine tracks and export out to iTunes. I can adjust compression, EQ, add effects if need be. Its pretty good really.

So I would like something that aloows me to get my music in my PB without the mini jack AND something that I could use as a midi interface would be that much greater. I think I'll have to buy 1 or the other though. I have a USB midisport 4x4 that I got a while ago and could never get it to work. So it probably dosent work. POS.

That's funny - my 2x2 midisport is completely flawless.

You have installed current drivers, yes?

yah I downloaded them from their site just a few weeks ago. I'm using it with Finale . I have a midi "macman" that I use with my old 7300 running Finale and it works great. So, again because nothing is ever easy, I write music on my PB and then transfer it to my old mac to use the serial macmann midi interface. I would like to get rid of that thing though.

ultimately I want a MOTU firewire input with digital I/O but $700 iis out of my range.

on the midisport 4x4 the USB light works but nothing else. I Should send it to you so you can test it for me

sorry -didn't mean to sound smart-ass just ruling out the obvious.

Does it show up in audio/midi config? (in Utilities folder)

Small and powerful. I hope.
