ok, i've been working on getting this to work for awhile now. maybe people here can help. i have a mac mini, and i have a sony dvd101 handycam camcorder - which records to dvd format on mini dvd's. i got the video file on the mini and edited it in imovie. i then exported to idvd and burned to an image b/c i dont' have a superdrive. the file is small enough to fit on a cd, so i burned it to a cd so i could put it on my pc to burn to dvd. this worked, but it had no sound.

as i said before, i've been working on this for awhile. the last thing i've been trying is that i used handbrake to convert the image to a .avi file. i converted it to an .avi file using imovie, but the quality was terrible.

any other ideas? this video is only like 6 min long, but i have one that's 30 min also.

AFAIK, on your mini-dvd is a mpeg2 file; you need a tool as streamclip http://www.alfanet.it/squared5/mpegstreamclip.html, to convert it into something, what iM can handle (WITH audio)

don't forget: you need for 20$ the mpeg2-plug-in from Apple to make SC work…

so:
install mpeg2 plug-in
install SC
put mini-dvd into Mac
convert .vob into .dv stream
import dv into iM
make dvd
(besides: you use the "patchburn" hack for forcing iDVD doing .img, right?)
