I have Popcorn and it's great but I want to 'back up' my DVD movies, is there any Mac software that can copy (decrypt) encoded DVD's? I know there is alot for PC but what about the Mac?

Thanks

If you want to rip a DVD for burning as another DVD, then rip as DVD Folders and use DVD2OneX to reduce the size for a DVD-R.

If you want to rip a DVD so that you can encode to something else like DivX, then rip it as a single .VOB file and use ffmpegX to encode it.

DVD Shrink is a good free PC DVD ripper that will rip DVD image files and recompress as needed (or not).

I've been using HandBrake. It will scan the DVD, then encode to mp4 or avi using ffmpeg or xvid, AAC or MP3 audio. Not the one to use if you want to copy the disk, but if all you want is the movie file then it fits the bill nicely.

DVDBackup 1.3 on the mac was my solid choice untill it died with 10.4 (hopes for update soon)
For the meanwhile I've been using MacTheRipper with pretty nice results. DVD2OneX to compress, Toast to burn.

Mac the ripper and DVD2oneX are easy to use, give 'em a shot. Even if you could get the Virtual PC versions to work it would be super slow.

Can I use MacTheRipper to rip it as a single .VOB?
How do I burn .avi, .mpg or .wmv onto a DVD without spending some $ on ffmpegx?
