Hello all. I am looking for a program that I can join two .avi files together. I would prefer if it was freeware, but any help would be appreciated.

ffmpegX, "Tools" tab, "Join" button. Hope you're not joining files of different formats (ie. DivX & Cinepak).

to add what Kyle said:

avi is just a container, as .mov (aka "Quicktime Movie") is just a container; it can contain all kind of medias , as pics, sounds and video with all kinds of compression flavors, as jpg, mp3, mpeg1/2/4, divx, whatever…

and: with all kind of bitrates…

"normally" you can just combine same type, same bitrate…
but, give ffmpeg a try, it is a very mighty tool.
(I don't know wether it does a "intermediate conversion" automatically… just try)

ffmpegX didn't seem to work for me. I'm not sure whether I am doing something wrong, or it is as you both said about it being different file formats, even though I was not aware they were different.

Hey Kyle,

Major, the author of ffmpegX, is an admin at the ffmpegX forums over at videohelp.com. Your best bet is to search the forum there and post a question for major if you can't find anything.
