A friend of mine created a short animated movie using a windows program called VEgas 5 (I know nothing about this app) and wants to have it put on DVD. But he does not have a DVD burner. I have an Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz machine with super drive and DVD Studio Pro 2 so I offered to help.

However, I am not that fluent in DVD Studio Pro 2 (I inherited this when someone I know bought DVD Studio Pro 3 or 4 or whatever they are up to). Anyway. I am looking foe what I need to do.

The files he gave me are currently in Windows Media Format (.wmv files). And DVD Studio Pro 2 does not seem to like that too much.

Is anyone out there familiar with these two programs? Is there any hope that we can get this to work?

Peace,

O
B unce!

I have used Vegas a bunch'o times

If your firend is using Sony Vegas, he should be able to export to MPEG 2. MPEG 2 is the format used on DVDs, so DVD Studio should be able to handle them.

Also make sure everythings in NTSC (Region 1) not PAL or some other format, or you'll only be able to play the DVD in Europe. You just want to make sure that all the stuff lines up & is compatable. Probably will be by default, but it doesnt hurt to check.

You can use Flip4Mac with QuickTime to encode the WMV to MPEG2. I do this all the time.
