I've got a few concert DVDs that I've extracted the audio from in AIFF format. I'm looking for suggestions as to what software to use to split the file up into individual songs. I used to use Sound Studio for things like this but development on that app ended a while ago. Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks for the reply. I thought of QT Pro, just realized when I upgraded to Tiger last night I need a new reg key. Will do that later, and will check out Audacity!

Try the Felt Tip site again. New work is being done as of April 13th. I use the latest available version under Jag extensively, and am very pleased with how it works.

Thanks Val, I hope they are keeping it going, Sound Studio was awesome under OS 9.x.

Try Peak LE. It's a great program, fast even when working with large files. It runs around 70 bucks.
Spark is good, too, but I'm not as familiar with it.

70 bucks to split some AIFFs? That's a bit pricey.

Here's a suggestion that won't cost anything.
Use itunes.
Get Info on the AIFF file that you want to split.
Under Options, enter the start/end times for the piece you want to split.
Convert to AIFF, and the new piece will be split into a seperate AIFF file.
Technically, I don't know what itunes is doing when converting an AIFF to an AIFF (it might not be converting at all), but there wasn't much of a difference (if there is any difference at all), especially for home/amateur user.
Otherwise, use QT pro or Protools or any other suggestion mentioned if money is no object.

The easiest solution that won't cost anything is iMovie 3 and greater.
Open a project, import the aiff, and split it up and rearrange it in whatever way you want, in the audio tracks.
Then export the project to quicktime, select the "expert" settings, then "export sound to aiff" command.
It's pretty easy, and you can't complain about the price.
