I run a sporting goods store, and i want to install a Video Surveillance system. I have look around and some companys offer kits will all the cams, hard drives, etc. What I would like to do is use coax cams and use a PCI input card with my Quicksliver.

What i need help is: (I can get cams)
The PCI card, or somekind of firewire coax input (price or kind or type )

Program to view and record the viedo feed, (could i use quicktime or ichat to view the inputs?)

What I do know is that I need some kind of surveillance system, and kits are like $1,500 and i cant spend that.

Security Spy is the only program I know about on the Mac that is good. At the bottom of their page they link to a company that wrote drivers for their PCI card. They don't list prices.

Check out EvoCam @ evocam.com I think. The set up is only $20 and it is packed full of everything you need to create a security system. You can create motion sensors, have captured still pics sent to your email and even create a running movie of the video feed. It turns any camera into a security camera with the features I just listed plus many more. I have looked around and not found any other Mac app that even comes close to EvoCam. Check it !!!
Peace out

Wow! EvoCam does everything I need it to do for a security camera and it's a lot cheaper. The only thing I've noticed it the app crashes when you try to record with h264 video. I'm sure that'll be fixed in time. I'm glad I had not splurged for SecuritySpy yet. Thanks for letting us know about it.

You are welcome my Mac Brother or Sister, whichever the case may be.
As far as the crash goes, contact the support crew at EvoCam. They are fantastic with the support of their product. I was very impressed that a question I proposed to them was responded to the next day. Good luck !!! Peace out . . .
