My eyehome has been working fine for weeks, the only config i had to do on Airport Exrpess to make it work was to de-select "distribute IP address" once i did that, eyehome found my mac

It is annoying only having one Express station as when i wanted to go back on the net, i had to unplug the express, take it back over to where the modem is, and re-select "distribute IP address" to make the net work again

Anyway, i thought to save all this hassle, i would buy an extreme base, and i just cant get it all working together

Here is what i have done:

Plugged my stereo and printer into my airport express

Plugged my Eyehome and Modem into my Airport Exreeme

I have followed the online setup guide provided by eyehome and it just wont work, it says "unable to read/update selected base station:

The only thing i found odd on the setup guide is when i says:

"Quit airport admin utility and disconnect your airport express from your computer"

I found this odd as my airport isnt cmmected to my computer....and why would it be?

I am able to get both working individually with the following setup:

Modem and speakers plugged into Express

Eyehome plugged into Extreme (with distribute IP unselected)

and if i want to use eyehome, i have to manually change with network it connectes to, and back again to use the net

I just cant get the seup i require which is:

stereo and printer into my airport express

Eyehome and Modem into my Airport Exreeme

I need this as WDS so i dont have to swtich networks manually (ie when i use eyehome i cant use the net and visa-virsa)

Please help!!

Go one step at a time.
1. Get the Airport Extreme base station set up how you want it. Make sure your computer can connect to the internet from the Extreme's ethernet port.
2. Plug in your eyeHome to the Extreme, and troubleshoot its connection.
3. Get the Airport Express set up with WDS. You can also set it to be a client on the Extreme network, but WDS is more useful.
4. Plug in your stereo and make sure wireless audio works.

I have sorted it now, but can anyone here understand what the problem was? Listen to this.....

Eyehome connected to Airport Exreme and my modem connected to Airport Express workded fine, only issue was having to connect to each network manually, every time i tried to update my Extreme to a WDS it i would get a message saying " An Error occurrred while comminicating with the apple extreme - 8.60."

Now i thought to myself, it cannot be a distance issue.....because it is sending video to the extreme no probem at all (and its only 10M from my mac) but i decided to bring the extreme into my study, just 2M from my mac....and it worked first time, i was able to set it all up, took it back into the lounge, connected my modem and eyehome to it, and it all works! as does my express with itunes....

can anyone understand what the problem was? its really bugging me!
