can anyone get that file to play in ANY player in OS X?

Seems to be some sort of direct download-restriction called "fugu" (not sure). A temporary solution is to open the activity monitor in Safari, get the url that activated proper playback and paste that into a browser that saves the movie in the browser cache (iCab does it, not sure about others). For the Linkin Park video the url is: http://nsvapp-prod-rr.stream.aol.com...481&sync=1

AFAICT, "fugu" is based on a javascript that requires a unique user id to properly access the data. I think the main thing to look at is this fugu.js file, but I'm not l33t enough to do much more.

Edit: Feel free to disregard everything I wrote earlier. It seems as you just need to make a visit to the playback page and then you can download a working file. Read here.

the problem isn't download/saving the file [i've done that already, but also, all of the other videos stream fine] ....

it's just this particular file that has a problem.

if you option + click on the file, it'll download to your HD.

odd that it can't play?

Plays fine for me. I just option-clicked to download and then opened it up in QT pro v6.5.2. The properties say it is Sorenson 3, 24 fps, 320 x 240. Sound is pretty normal looking too. I don't see what the problem is.

I just tried VLC and it plays fine there, too.

Maybe your download was defective?

It seems to be fixed now. Note that the previous size of the file was about 49 MB, now it's 68.8.
