I have a series of slides (1024x768) set to music there were exported as a QT movie from iPhoto. The QT movie is just back-to-back JPGS with transitions. I now need to move it into iMovie so I can define chapters and then export to iDVD to burn.

I found that if I use QTPlayer to export to a QT Movie in DV format, when I get it into iMovie it is pretty blurry. If I export from QT Player to a QT Movie in MPEG-4 format it is much better, but still blurry.

How can I best preserve my resolution when dropping from 1024 JPEGS (in a QT movie) to iMovie? I need to export to some QT format first to all my transitions are flattened into the video.

Thanks,

Trygve

You can export straight from iPhoto to iDVD, then arrange the transitions and music in iDVD. It's the same transitions menu, and there won't be any quality loss or time wasted in the export/import steps.

You could go to the "Expert" settings in iPhoto's export dialogue box. Make sure the quality slider is maxed out, the resolution is set to 720x480, compression DV-NTSC (or Pal, depending on where you're from). There should be no quality loss compared to exporting directly to iDVD.
