In another lifetime, if I wanted to backup a CSS encrypted, what is step two. I try to drag the VIDEO_TS folder into Popcorn... and it won't drag. Suggestions?

MacTheRipper is used to remove CSS. Popcorn makes it fit on a 4.4 GB DVD-R. Their is so step 2. Just them two.

Well can you explain the inability to drag TS files into popcorn when it asks me to? Is there a certain setting Mac the Ripper must be on to enable me to drag the finished TS file into Popcorn? I'm worthless, spell it out for me.

Do you have the latest version of Popcorn? A previous version had a similar problem when run on Tiger.

Popcorn will NOT copy DVD's with CSS (all commercial DVD's).

Get MacTheRipper and remove the CSS from you legaly bought DVD movie. MTR creates the exact same folder structure as the original. It removes the encryption and copies the DVD files to your local hard drive (read the included manual for detailed instructions).

Once done, use Popcorn to burn MTR created VIDEO_TS folder (it lets you choose it) to a blank DVD. Voila

You can also choose to create a DVD image (a la .toast) from Popcorn.

Instead of selecting all regions in MacTheRipper you need to select NONE of them.

Please forgive the stupid question, but Popcorn compresses AND burns?

I ask because in other threads, people say to use Popcorn to compress then Toast to burn.

I just tried FastDVDCopy, which created a disc that works well in my DVD player, but not in my PB. Before I blow $100 on it, I'd be curious to see if the much cheaper ($50) Popcorn does the same thing, and if PB's can play the discs, too.

I'm afraid I'm a bit confused by all this.

According to Roxio, it seems like it does:
Toast Burning Technology
For over 10 years, Toast has been the #1 selling CD and DVD recording software for the Mac OS. Now the best burning technology for the Mac is available in Popcorn.

Yes, Popcorn compresses and burns. If you have a regular DVD burner then it will compress to fit on the 4.4gig media. If you have a dual layer burner, then it won't compress as there is no need to do so. Works fine on my dual gig power mac.

To answer the original question, you only need two pieces of software. MTR and Popcorn. MTR will strip CSS and Popcorn will compress and burn.
