My mom is a musician, and she's looking to cut together a quick CD, but is lacking the proper software to do so.
Currently, her instrument recordings sound great, but occasionally we'll get a slight pop every now and then. I know I should look into further, but for now we're going to try and fix it in software. She's just looking to get a prototype album out for now.
I know Soundtrack Pro is great for this, but I'd also like the midi features of Logic Express. We'll probably use midi to add in a few instruments here and there with her midi keyboard and controller, so I don't think Soundtrack would work here.
Basically, my question is, are there any good pop/noise filters for Logic Express? Or, in other words, what is a good approach to getting rid of pops using Logic Express?

Logic has a built in audio editor which will let you remove the popping. It's also a very flexible and powerful sequencer which would stand your mom in good stead when her productions get more complex.

Thanks.
So I'm assuming it's pretty easy to remove pops with Logic?

You can zoom in to the wave and manually remove the pops, but your best bet would be to find the source of the problem and fix it at source.

k, thanks.
I was trying to hide my relative lack of knowledge about audio editing, but apparently it shows through.

Can't you do what you want in GarageBand?

Hmmm... I guess I could...
But in Logic I'll be able to add on to it with more instruments and whatnot. And certain things like fixing tempo or pitch are much easier. Plus, I've already got a MIDI controller and I'd like Logic to learn some controls for things like Pan, Volume, etc. And then I'd be missing Track Automation too.
I've been using GarageBand since it first came out in iLife '04 and now I'm basically looking for something with more features. Besides, my mother qualifies for her educational discount, so LE is only $149. We got her an iBook last year to learn how to do some simple editing, and she's been messing around in GarageBand recently, so I thought she should be learning in something a bit more professional. Currently, my parents are building a new house on their property, with a simple music studio/room for all of this. So this way she'll be able to edit and fix her own audio, and when she gets a little more popular she may be able to hire someone to do it.
Salty might like the music she writes -- it's Christian.
