Every time I convert an mpg file in quicktime player (pro) into a quicktime file (.mov) the sound is always left out.

Why does this happen and how can I preserve the sound when converting an mpeg into a .mov file?

QT hasn't had its MPEG routines updated in, well, ever, and back in the day it was acceptable to treat an entire mpeg file as one giant sample, and I guess to treat it as a video sample when converting, so that's what it does.
