I have this Philips USB audio device to connect to my 5.1 computer speakers. Until about a week ago this worked perfectly but since then all that comes out is stereo. The one exception is that VLC plays through 4 of the 5 channels (discretely), but each of them out the wrong speaker (and I suspect the 5th channel is just being swapped with the LFE so you can't hear it). In QT (the only other place I know of to play my diagnostic mp4), I get R, RS and half of C out the right, the reverse out the left, and nothing out of the C, RS, or LS speakers. This leads me to believe that something in OS X or QuickTime is being too smart for its own good, downmixing everything to 2 channel stereo. I've looked through the system prefs and the QT prefs but I can't find any such culprit.

Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks
