SO I haven't received my PM yet, but when I do (should be Friday), I'd like to know if I can somehow record audio through a radio that I have. It's got an optical out on the radio, does the PM have the optical in? Is that how that works? I got the Rev. B PM Dual 2ghz. Is it that simple? Just open up GarageBand or something and hit record? But the trick is, I'd also like to set up a timer of some sort to start recording at a certain time and end at a certain time. See, my brother is playing high school football and I go to all the games, but I'd like a way to listen to the recordings of the games when I get back. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it and am looking forward to all these things I can do with a PowerMac I couldn't do with my last PC.

hmm... I dont think one can automate recording. If your PM as optical in, you should be able to record. (I just convert to that mini jack) Garage Band should suffice for that. But if you want to do serious audio restoration, editing, use with video, etc, Soundtrack Pro is a good investment. If you want to do serious music creation, Logic may be a good investment (I think--I can only say for sure about Soundtrack, since I own/use it)

Either way, congrats on the PM! Is it your first Mac?

i've got the 2.0 PM. it does have optical in and out. i dont use it though. i use my system for video editing and have soundtrack pro. I say that soundtrack pro is good for audio restoration and movie sound effects. i dont do much of it though.

Definitely Audio Hijack Pro. I've used Wiretap Pro and Hijack is incomparably better. It is incredibly flexible and has many useful tricks up its sleeve.

I have no relationship with any one at, or financial interest in, Audio Hijack Pro.

UGH, it turns out the optical out on my am/fm/cd player was only for the CD!! DANG!! SO I need a new route. I heard about the Griffin RadioShark, but I dont know if that will be very good.
