Hi all,
I'm going to be buying a new DV camera and was browsing them online when I found the JVC Everio G series GZ-MG40 at http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?model...119&page=2 .

I've never used a DV camera with a hard drive.
Q 1: Are they reliable? slow? good?

Also, I've never used a DV camera that didn't have firewire and I only found USB 2.0 on the spec list.
Q 2: Will this be a problem with iMovie 5 or Final Cut Express?

I was also considering just getting one DV camera that took decend digital pictures. In the past, this was an impossible consideration. Now, they seem to be adding this feature where you get decent megapixel shots.
Q 3: Does anyone have a DV camera they like that also takes good still pictures?

Thanks for any input.
Q 4: If you wouldn't mind, please including other DV cameras that you would recommend & where to get a good price.

Thanks!

I wouldn't get a dv vid cam that took pictures because they don't take pictures in a true progressive format. That means that the are interlaced frames that interpolated or doubled to produce a clearer image. It's better to get a dig camera and a dv cam. Considering the price it's probably cheaper than buying a really "good" combo. About the usb, I would check with Apple, but I wouldn't personally do it because it's not quite as reliable as firewire. I would check out the Panasonic GS250, it has a 3 ccd setup, it will offer you the best image quality...or the GS200 or 150, I can't remember...it's the lower end one with 3 ccd's.
