Hi !

I recently bought a Philips Aurilium PSC805 for $20 to provide an Mic In for my Mac Mini. It is an external soundcard which can output 5.1, and has a Mic In.

Unfortunately, the software does not run on OS X so there is only limited functionality on the output (stereo), but at a price less than the iMic, maybe still worth it. And maybe someday we they will have the software working on OS X.

The problem I am facing is with my Radio Shack, Electret mic. It does not seem to work with the Aurilium. However my old headphone/mic headset works fine. Is this an Aurilium problem, or do the Radio Shack Electret mics not work with Macs at all ?

TIA

I don't know about mics, but I got the same Phillips unit a while back just for the 5.1 output, and it worked fine wihout installing any drivers. A few weeks ago though I did start getting just stereo output, so now I'm thinking some system or software update has broken it. VLC can still output to all 6 channels; it's got them all mixed up, but at least that shows that the setup is capable of using the hardware to its fullest...
