I just copied about 25GB of music from my old laptop to the new powerbook, and every time I start iTunes, it eats up all the CPU and eventually I either have to ForceQuit it, or it will require a cold boot because the system starts swapping so badly.

Is there some other MP3 player out there that just.. .um... plays MP3s and doesn't have an integrated store, ipod sync, podcast system, rendevous sharer, etc. etc. etc.? I see several on versiontracker -- does anyone have any reccomendations?

What kind of laptop do you have??

If it's 'any' G4 it shouldn't be performing that way..
Trash the iTunes library, rebuild it and restart.

I do believe that Audion is both free and awesome. In fact, it almost became the basis for iTunes.
