This song is a collaboration between myself and someone I have never met, who lives over the other side of the world. It was recorded totally in GarageBand.

Have a listen to it here.

It would be great if you guys could leave a comment and tell us what you think.

I'm disappointed.

Just kidding! Great tune, and a nice mix.

Cheers!

The song is generic? Let's hear one of yours for a comparison.

I thought it was awful. The singer is terrible, the music is nothing original at all. Sure it has "good sound" and is decently recorded but thats about it.

And I have a bit of a problem with someones only post pointing to their website - "check this out" - seems like SPAM to me, especially since the same thing has been posted at other boards in the very same manner.

Agreed... production quality ≠ musical quality. That being said, I CAN see where some people would like it very much. ...just not me. *shrug*

EDIT: forgot to mention--given the musical genre, the guitar solo aint half-bad...

I'm sorry if you considered this "spamming". I'm flattered that you think the production quality is good (even if the music isn't your favorite style). I actually believed the production quality was it's downfall. It was recorded by plugging the guitar and the microphone straight into the back of the computer and then mixing it with the free software that comes with the Mac. It was not "professionally" done by any stretch of the imagination.

I like it. Not something I would listen to all the time but when I'm in one of my darker moods I appreciate stuff like that. Thanks...good work.

I don't know why some of you are being rude, and offering nonconstructive criticism (see:"i thought it was awful" (wow, that's profound, thanks for that))... I am quite impressed by the end product, considering it was made using a free, largely consumer-geared app. Goes to show you how much times are changing, a lot of walls have been torn down from the paths of aspiring musicians. ( I can remember as short as five years ago when I lived in the dorms, myself and a few other friends would try to compose songs, basically recording each part incrementally and composing it in "SoundEffects 0.9.2"... with mixed results. Nothing like what is posted here!)

As far as diversion's song, I liked it. Good overall structure, attention to detail, variation. Not my flavor of music but I can appreciate it for what it is.

Keep up the good work. I'd like to hear more as you roll it out.

Thanks heaps, nayr x. I know what you mean about how things have changed. I remember not all that long ago, I used to try to record and mix songs using only Adobe Premiere!

Anyway, if anyone wants to hear my new song, here it is... it's called "This is about you." If you don't want to hear it, then I would recommend not clicking on the link. However, I would really appreciate any feedback or criticism you could give me. Thanks.

As far as Moment of Impact is concerned I thought it was pretty good. I guess my only "criticism" would be that it could've used a more agressive drum track in the middle of the song, something to sort of link the tick-tick-tick of the first half with the balls-out thrashing at the end. All in all, good stuff.

I know this sounds odd.. but it made me wonder what Metallica would sound like if it were an Emo band in highschool.

But don't think I'm being critical - just what came to my mind.

Well said Yose. I think you're right on the money with that. When I wrote the song originally, it was very "Emoish" and the guy who did the instrumentation on this version is a bit of a metal nut.
