Video Conference Using iChat?

I am trying to set up iChat using my Cannon Elura DV Model 60 Camcorder. Under preferences in iChat, it does not detect the camera at all. I am able to confirm the USB connection through other applications. Is this at all possible to begin with, or am I just wasting my time?

By the way, I'm using a G4 with OS X.3.9

doesn't iChat have to use a firewire device?
maybe you've been brainwashed too.

you need to hook your cam. up using firewire to make it recognizable. you can get them from appl store or online i think if yorucam is digital
