Anyone Using FCX on an iMac G5?

I currently have a old dual 1GHz and FCX 2, which is an acceptable video editing set-up for my needs (home movies). Problem is, I long for something more responsive. I've been telling myself I'd get a new PM when the new Mactels come out, but that is still a year or more away.

The new iMacs look very enticing and might be a good replacement for my Quicksilver (at least until a cheap Mactel tower comes along), but going from a dual to a single processor seems like a step down. Anyone here using an iMac G5 to edit video? Is it considerably fast? How about iDVD? On my current rig it seems like about 1 in 4 DVDs ends up as a coaster.

Any input is appreciated.

not sure this is going to be much help. I am running FCX-HD on an eMac 1.25 GHZ G4, and on an iMac 1.8 GHZ G5. There is some speed bump from the eMac to the iMac, but not so much that I notice a dramatic increase. I haven't done any 'benchmarking' tests, which I guess I should try.

As far as the 1 in 4 coaster problems, I have found that if I use ANYTHING but Sony DVD media, my results suck. I have something approaching 100% success with Sony media. (I do NOT work for Sony, btw )

Thanks for the input ed. I sucked it up and bought a new dual core Mac. I tried one out this weekend at the Apple store and FCX ran so smoothly I couldn't resist.

I'm also excited about the new 16x DVD burner. I'll let you know if I have any problems with non-Apple media.
