Is there any software to convert WAV to MP3 files.

iTunes should make the conversion of wave to mp3. At least it will do it with version 2.04 in OS 9.22 and OS X 10.1.5. Just open iTunes and use "Convert to mp3" in the Advanced menu and navigate to the wave file. If that item currently is set to another format you should be able to change it to mp3 in iTunes preferences.

Or if you're one of those types that can't stand iTunes, you can try Lamebrain. It hasn't been updated in a while, but still works pretty well.
