Hi
I was just importing some old cd's to iTunes.
When I try to import Prince: Lovesexy it comes up as just one long track (probably because it's recorded this way).
How do I cut this one track into the nine songs it's supposed to be so that I can use them in playlists? Can I do it with iTunes?
I guess it will be hard to get a good result from just cutting it to pieces. What's the best thing to do? I really like Alphabet St.

You can import it as one file and then use free third party tools (search Versiontracker) to break it up. Alternatively, you can choose what section of the track iTunes will import. Just select the CD track and choose "Get Info" from the file menu. In the "Options" tab you will see that you can edit the start and stop times for the track. So say you know, through listening, that the first song ends at 4:50 (just an example--I'm not familiar with the album). If you change the stop time to 4:50 and import the CD, iTunes will only import the file from 0:00 to 4:50. If you choose this method, you will have to edit the start and stop time for each individual song and then fix the ID3 tags and filenames once you have all the songs on your computer.

Try Audacity. Simple to use, free, does what you need it to.
