Hi,

I just bought a Sony Handycam DCR-HC21 and am now worried that it won't be as compatible with OSX as the Canon ZR200. I haven't opened the box so I could quickly exchange it.

Any experienced users out there who can offer up some advice fast? I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip and would like to know that I've got a good camera to get started making movies with.

The salesperson at the first store said Sony wasn't compatible with Mac--he only sold Canons.
The salesperson at Circuit City opened the box and we looked at the CD that comes with the Sony and it said Windows and OSX.

I loved the feel of the Sony. Did I make a mistake and will I have headaches getting it to work seamlessly with iMovie. What's most important for me is "ease of use."

Thanks.

It's a standard MiniDV camera - so long as it has a Firewire (iLink in sony lingo) port, it should work.

I have a Sony Camcorder (can't remember the exact model name). Its about 2 years old, and it works with iMovie just fine over Firewire.
Mini 1.25 OC'ed 1.50Ghz | 1gb Kingston Value Ram | 60gb Hitachi 80GN | 250gb Firewire
