I can't get a video single in FCP from the HDCAM deck. I am having to use a DeckLink card because the movie was shot in true 24.00 (24p) and firewire will not recognize 24p, only 23.98 or 29.97, etc. I can control the deck and I do get timecode in the log and capture window, but no video single. I am controlling the deck via RS-422 cable. Any ideas?

Side note, I am able to get an HD single if I come out of the HD/SDI output on the deck, but I need to capture in SD because I don't have drives fast enough for full HD quality. I am editing in SD but I need the timecode to work so I can capture everything full quality later with an EDL.

Here are the specs...

The deck is a SONY J-H3 HDCAM deck with both HD/SDI and SD/SDI output capabilities.

The deckling card is a Blackmagic DeckLink HD card. The installer I used is version 4.8.1 (That is the recommended version when using FCP 4.5)

The source footage is 24p shot on a SONY F900.

FCP is version 4.5 and the G5 is a dual 2.0 Ghtz processor with 1 GB od Ram. The operating system is 10.3.9

The April 2005 G5/2.0 GHz dual-processor model. The previous two generations of dual-processor G5/2.0 PowerMacs work fine with DeckLink cards as they included PCI-X slots. This machine originally worked fine with standard definition DeckLink cards but a subsequent firmware update for the April 2005 series of G5's stopped video playback in the entry-level, dual-processor G5/2.0 GHz with PCI slots. Accordingly this G5 model should not be used with DeckLink cards. The PCI-X models of the April 2005 G5 lineup work fine with DeckLink cards, even with the firmware update.
In summary, none of the PowerMac G5's, with 33 MHz PCI slots, should be used with DeckLink cards at this time. Hopefully this advisory will change in the future if Apple are able to resolve the issues with the PCI slots.
