I'm exporting video clips from iMovie and the quicktime clips are very jagged at edges of people moving. Here is an example.

In iMovie

And exported

I've changed my camcorder to record "Progressive" but that hasn't helped. I'm using 8.20 mbits/sec as the data rate, which is very high, but the jaggies are still there. I've tried mp4, h.264, and even direct DV (with a file size of over 300 megs) but the jaggies are still there. I'm exporting the video at the actual size (720x480) and at 29.97 fps. Any idea how I can export the video without the jaggies?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

well, i use final cut pro and not imovie so i am not sure how to do it in imovie.
for final cut pro, i go to file>export>using quicktime conversion
then i select convert to quicktime>options
from there, i select the ntsc dv format and select best settings, then progressive.

However, i am not quite familiar with imovie so hopefully, somebody else can help you.

I also found it helpful to capture in progressive. to do this make sure both the CAMERA AND THE MAC is set up to a progressive codec. in some cases, progressive settings may be under field dominance in three choices of top, bottom, or none. by selecting none, it will be a progressive mode.
