I have 867mhz TiBook w/ osx 10.2 and just want to know what kind of mic I should get to record lectures at school.

Here's a little more info on what im looking for:
-$50 or less mic that can clip onto the screen
-Software to record

I usually sit about 6 rows from the professor. The professor has a mic on him so its pretty loud. Not looking for amazing sound quality since I'm just going to load the files onto my ipod.

So what do you guys recommend?

Have you tried recording the mic that is built into the laptop? I would image the quality is not great, but it might be able to get what you need.

I found this. http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/lapelmic/
Would I have to buy the USB adapter or will it work through my TiBook's mic in input?
Also waht are some good freeware apps that record?

If it's just going on your ipod, then why not record directly t the ipod. There ae a number of $50 items that do that.

Well I have an iPod video now. I need something temporary and inexpensive for the time being.

No, there aren't, since although the 5G iPod finally has an acceptable video recording feature present in the hardware, for some $@#% stupid reason Griffin and Belkin still haven't updated their microphone adapters to work with it (and yes, the old iTalk et al. don't work because, for some equally stupid reason, Apple removed the remote port that such devices used).

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist 2.5.2. Macworld - five mice!

I have one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...Fencoding=UTF8

Works flawlessly. Use it for Skype, iChat, and recording lectures like what you're doing.
