Just ordered one of the new Intel iMacs (top spec 20in) - will any elements of FCS run via Rosetta or not a chance in hell? Particularly Final Cut - someone told me it would, another said it wouldn't.

Cheers.

FCS will not run in Rosetta.
A universal binary will be available next month.

Ok, so i'm waiting for this new version of FCS - just so expensive now we can't buy them seperately. How long are we going to be waiting for the new version of Final Cut Express?

I really don't understand why Apple thought it would be a good idea to bring out all this brilliant hardware without any pro software available. Seems silly to me.

Upgrade pricing for the universal binary version of Final Cut Studio. Note these prices are for an Intel ready version of the current suite (FCP5, Motion 2, DVDSP4 etc) not a new version that may/may not be demonstrated at NAB.

Thus it might be worth trying to find a shrink-wrapped copy of Motion 2 or Soundtrack Pro at a reseller ...

You can afford Final Cut Pro, but you can't afford the upgrade? And if you can Afford Final Cut Pro to do video work, why would you do it on an iMac?

The Final Cut Express product page says that the next feature release will be a Universal version.
iMac G5 17in 2.0GHz , 512MB RAM , ATI Radeon 9600 128MB , Mac OS X Tiger / FCE HD / Soundtrack Pro
