Yes..always loads up fine. Today I plugged in a Sony HDV camcorder to my G5 via Firewire and then booted up Final Cut...splash logo came up, then went away and then nothing. Disconnected camera, FCP did not load. Rebooted and with no camera connected it does not load. Splash screen logo comes up and then it goes away..and then..nothing...

Do you have an external Firewire drive connected? At one point, on my old G4, FinalCut refused to load with a camera or an external firewire drive connected.

i had this problem before..i think it may be something with deleteing some files..
have you dleted any files lately...you may have deleted a final cut preference file by accident...
to fix it, i just re installed everything...
everything should be fine, just need to resent you scratch disk and preferences...

or if you want, you can try a program FCP rescue...
i just heard of it today and i heard it restores your preferences from a back up ( i dont know how it would fix it without a back up file...)

I'm quite postive that something has gone wacky with your pref files. It happens to me every now and then. You WANT to delete those files then restart the App.
If your pref files do not exist, FCP creates the default files when it starts. If they are missing when you start FCP, not big deal, but if there's a problem with them, the app won't start past the spash screen.

seach for the word "trash" on that page and follow the directions. If you have any customized settings you'd like to keep, in case the pref files are not your problem just put copies of them into another folder. I'm almost sure this is your problem and these files are hosed anyway.
