So about a week ago, I opened itunes on my mac to listen to some music as I normally would through my tascam fw-1184 board. When I hit play, nothing happened, and the cursor just stayed there. I restarted the computer and things went back to normal.

Now, when I press play the same thing happens as before, but restarting does not solve the problem. If I unplug the board, the music plays through my powerbooks speakers fine.

I have reinstalled the driver software for the board to no avail. Any ideas?
(keep in mind NO sounds play through it)


When I attempt to playt hefiles through the mix board a very faint high pitched sound comes out of my powerbook in from the left side of the case.

Does the Audio/MIDI Configuration program still see it?

Have you downloaded the very latest drivers from the Tascam site?

Please use at least somewhat descriptive thread titles (such as "Tascam FW interface not playing sound" or so). I definitely wouldn't have clicked on this one if I didn't happen to be bored and need distraction.
