I recorded some clips with a Panasonic AG-DVC7 miniDV camcorder. For audio I used a handheld external mic. I hooked it up with an XLR to mini phone plug cable so it would fit the camera. The audio indicator shows audio activity when I tap the mic.
I got some clips and went to import them into iMovie. When I play the clips back in iMovie I don't hear anything. When I view the clips in the timeline I do see the little audio graphs. I went to play back the tape in my camera, sound from clips recorded with the built-in mic I can hear fine (I can hear these in iMovie as well), but nothing from the external mic clips.
I played back the tape in a minDV VTR. Audio sounds great regardless of whether or not an external mic was used. So I know its there, just a matter of getting my camera/iMovie to hear it. Can anyone help?
