Can anyone point me to directions on how to import VHS tape into FCE? I have a Canon ZR65 camera to do the A/D conversion, but how do you set up FCE to accept the input?

I have been importing the data via iMovie, and then importing the file into FCE, but this then requires rendering to be able to use the file. I would prefer to just capture the data into FCE.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well this is considered a non controllable device, Final Cut Express versions 1.0.1 and later can capture from non-controllable devices using the following steps:

From the Final Cut Express menu, choose Easy Setup.
From the Setup For pop-up menu, choose either DV-NTSC DV Converter or DV-PAL DV Converter depending on whether you're working with NTSC or PAL material.
From the File menu, choose Capture.
Cue your footage to at least five seconds before the desired recording point, and press play on the camera or deck.
Click the Now button in the Capture area of the Capture window. This button is in the lower-right area.
When done recording, press the Esc (Escape) key on your keyboard.

Thanks for the walk through...that seems to have been the solution.

Thanks again!
