I'm looking to buy a Webcam for animation work (as in claymation-type things).
I need one that exports picture files to any of the formats that would allow me to work with iMovie. Also, it should have a quick photo-taking time (I'd use a better word but I don't know what)... because digital cameras seem to take a while to process the image and store it (like 5-10 seconds).
I used to have a Logitech QuickCam, but it doesn't work with my new Mac for some reason. Something like that with higher quality images would be just what I'm looking for.
Does anyone have any suggestions? iSight?

have a look here...
http://www.istopmotion.com/

.. it allows the usage of any firewire connected dv-camcorder as "still cam"; or, if you prefer to "abuse" iMovie for such a project, get an iSight, it's natively supported by iM...

as far as i know, webcam shouldnt affect animation work....as it is a software based tool that allows claymation possible with webcams....
however, depending on what camera you use will affect your final output quality....
fuzzy video versus sharp video. and so

and about the logitech...
it is probably because its usb based and macs, as far as i know, have problem with usb cameras...
however, i think there are some "hacks" to get passed that barrier....
i use a firewire cable connected to my dv cam...

You shoud use a digital still camera. You would get much more resolution and it would allow you to do many things more like reframing, panning or even zooming overtime afterwards without compromising the quality.
