Ok, so I have my DVR set to record something tomorrow night. I'd really like to be able to take it from the DVR and put it on my PowerBook and convert it to .mpeg so I can share it with a bunch of people and eventually convert it and put it on my iPod. Any suggestions on how to do this? I have a big screen TV with all sorts of outputs, and my PowerBook is the 12" final revision.

Thanks a lot!

I got the performance recorded and it's sittin on my DVR. Any way to take it from my DVR unit or TV to my PowerBook, or am I going to need some sort of TV tuner or something?

Thanks!

Ok its sort of complicated unless you have a firewire on the back of your DVR which makes things very easy. if you do, you can just use the firewire cable and hook it up to your PB and import it into iMovie and convert into whatever format you like..

If not, then you need something that can capture that video signal into the computer. In the case, you should look into something like Elgato.

The best home-brew solution .. in case you dont have a firewire output or dont want to buy any more equipment is the AV camcorder trick.. Connect AV cables from the back of your DVR to your cam, then get it to iMovie.. and voila!
